Hello fellow toads,
Happy Toad Tuesday!
I hope you’re all cozy (???) with a warm (???) beverage??? Honestly, I do not know the kind of beverage I should encourage you to grab. It was 80 degrees last week and I’d already written a totally different issue titled Cat Days of Summer, but now it’s all cold and soggy again and I just can’t send that out.
While it was 80, I decided to be incredibly put-together and forward-thinking and make a fat carafe of cold brew. And where has that plan-ahead mentality gotten me? A world of clammy offices and cold hands! It figures.
I’m never thinking again!
Speaking of thinking, I’m also in a new groupchat with like four hundred people and all the notifications have used all my brain capacity for the week.
Smooth brain! Smooth brain! Let’s talk about what I’ve been doing and drawing.
Monster Flavor of the Week
This week’s Monster Flavor of the Week is Pipeline Punch, recommended by my good friend Jesse. Thanks to Jesse, both my gaming talents and ability to be sweaty on a porch went up ten points after consuming this Monster. Radical!
Also he made fun of me for drinking it out of a tiny crystal glass with ice cubes, which was warranted.
Quiz Quorner
Which marshmallow Peep on this skewer I ate are you? Share yours, we all wanna know.
More quizzes
Which collectible pig that I saw online while jacked up on a third of a Monster are you?
Are you a bitchy girl or a slutty girl?
Drawing Again
It’s so weird to me now that I connected with a lot of you through visual art and drawing. I haven’t been drawing very much for the last few months; in fact, I don’t think I’ve actually drawn more than a few lines in over a fortnight.
After disconnecting my visual practices from social platforms and the need to post every day, I realized that I wasn’t even sure why I was drawing any more and that I just genuinely didn’t want to do it. And that was fine!
I dove headfirst into several of my other main hobbies, aka gaming, watching 2000s TV, making crafts and stupid quizzes, drinking lil bevvies on a porch, and being a horrible otaku.
As it turns out, those things proved quite inspiring. I’ve got a bunch of Zelda and magical girl-related drawings cooking now and I’m actually having fun making them.
I think my main inspiration, besides enjoying stories and visuals that I love, was Tumblr. Some of the folks on there have like, two things that they draw over and over again and they clearly have a good time with it. Like this artist draws Charlotte from Madoka Magica a lot, which definitely inspired me to draw my own.
Okay, it’s time for my nightly gaming hour. I’m going to go make some tea and find something crisp to snack upon!
